It's our last day in Michigan and it's been a great stay here, seeing Shirlee's relatives, having alot of fun and eating alot of great food.
Getting the 5th wheel out of the cottage driveway turned out to be not quite as difficult as I thought it might be, but it was tight enough. Thanks to my 'navigatior's' help we left safe & sound.
We stopped in Sutton's Bay to pick up a pork roast that Shirlee had eyeballed the day before and then we headed south along the peninsula to Traverse City and then north towards Charlevoix, MI and then on to Petoskey, MI, Mackinaw City, MI, across the 'Big Mac' Bridge, on to Saulte Ste Marie, MI, and then finally across a bridge into Saulte Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada and Customs. Finally, after weaving through the typical narrow traffic lanes of Canadian roads we reached the local KOA Kampground.
It's been a beautiful day and a pretty nice drive up. One thing we won't miss about this area is the little black flies that are everywhere some times. They are really a nuisance!
After setting up camp we set out to find a store to buy cat food, but not before Shirlee put the roast that she purchased earlier in the oven. Just after we left the park we saw a black bear that had just crossed the road in front of us and he was heading through the woods in the direction of the park. I bet that would cause some excitement for the boys!
We then stopped to top off our fuel and found that the price worked out to $3.61 per gallon! Welcome to Canada! I've been told that fuel stops are far and few between so we'll keep it as full as we can until we're back in the states.
When we returned from shopping and we entered the 5th wheel, the aroma was delicious! Shirlee had prepared the roast with some Cherry Jalapeno Salsa that she received free for buying something else.
We have a long drive tomorrow so off to bed!
